Kyle
Senior Relationship Manager, Programs and Projects
One of the first things Kyle noticed when joining Propel was how involved senior leadership was in the business. Kyle began his career at Propel as a Customer Service Agent and within the first few weeks, he had already met several senior leaders. Kyle quickly found that leaders, from the CEO down, not only cared about getting to know the employees, but were genuinely interested in his feedback. Kyle rose through leadership positions in Operations. New opportunities were presented to Kyle as his team picked up on his willingness to jump in and help. Several years later, Kyle expressed an interest in expanding his skill set outside of operations. A new position was created for Kyle to help administer bank partnerships. As Propel’s bank partnerships grew, so did Kyle’s role. Along the way, Kyle continued to share his insights and feedback, helping to fine-tune and improve the bank programs. Today, Kyle is a Senior Relationship Manager of Programs and Projects .
Grace
Senior Manager, Programs and Projects
For Grace, her role as Senior Manager is proof of Propel’s commitment to promoting within. Grace started her career at Propel as a Customer Experience Agent where she was on the front lines of our Customer Service team. As an agent, she was one of the first to use Propel’s technology and had a good sense of what worked and didn’t and would pass that feedback on, ultimately helping to improve the tech. This feedback impressed senior leaders and when Propel launched its first bank partnership, they turned to Grace to help. Accustomed to building a strong rapport with customers and managing teams, Grace became a Project Manager for Propel’s first bank partnership. In this role she had a responsibility to keep external and internal partners aligned and onside. As she builds her career, Grace feels armed for success with support from leaders who “have your back” and access to continued learning and development.
Kent
Compliance Coordinator
Kent started his career as a personal trainer, which gave him many of the skills he needed to succeed at Propel. When Kent joined Propel, he started as a Payment Solutions Advisor but very quickly moved into a leadership role where he was responsible for training and developing agents. Here, he found the skills he had as a personal trainer came in handy: training agents on how to handle customers wasn’t that different than training clients on perfecting their form. The next step to Compliance, came just as naturally. Having helped Compliance with reporting, the team quickly found his attention to detail and calm demeanour were an asset to the team. Kent credits the skills that he has been able to develop to Propel and the culture here. When asked what he thinks about Propel, he says, “It’s simple: this place has my back.”

Janel
Director, Finance Operations
Janel was the first hire after the original four co-founders, having joined Propel in 2012. In those early days, Janel wore many hats. From accounting, to administration, to HR, to compliance; Janel played a role in every function of the scrappy start-up. Through her time, Janel has seen Propel grow from a team of four, to the powerhouse team it is today and along the way she’s grown her career. She credits her success and her staying power with leadership who have been supportive of every step she has taken. Today, Janel focuses on financial operations and is heavily involved in building financial processes that power Propel’s new programs and products. It’s been a wild ride and Janel doesn’t see herself leaving anytime soon, saying she “is a lifer”.

Shana
Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition, People + Culture
Shana is now in charge of recruiting top talent to Propel and her best asset in this process is the story she can tell about her own journey. Having started as a Customer Service Agent, Shana rose through the Customer Service team, to lead and train teams. But since day one, she has known she wanted to work in Human Resources. She was encouraged to apply to an open role and when there were two stellar internal candidates, the team found a way to bring both on and give both an opportunity to take that next step in their journeys. Shana credits Propel’s values with the opportunities she has been given and believes there is true respect for employee and an open dialogue at every level.
